In its first year of operation, RWE’s Community Benefit Fund is supporting eight public-interest projects led by local associations. After reviewing 31 proposals focused on biodiversity, local heritage, energy transition, and raising public awareness of climate and energy issues, the fund’s board of directors selected the 2025 beneficiary projects.
A total of €120,000 will be distributed, financed by three wind farms with a combined installed capacity of 60 megawatts (MW): the Catillon-Fumechon wind farm (21.6 MW, six turbines) in the Oise department; the Catésis–Bois Marronnier wind farm (28.8 MW, eight turbines) in the Nord department; and the Ormesnils wind farm (9.6 MW, two turbines) in Seine-Maritime. These sites are located in the Hauts-de-France and Normandy regions. Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, said, “RWE is committed to supporting the regions in which it operates. The RWE Community Benefit Fund brings this commitment to life by funding local initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to residents. The eight projects selected in the first year clearly demonstrate the ecological transition in action: they are local, concrete, and designed to benefit the community.”
The eight chosen projects will deliver concrete local benefits, including the purchase of a shared electric vehicle, funding for energy-efficient renovations for low-income households, restoration of historic buildings, preservation of natural areas, installation of photovoltaic panels on municipal facilities, and environmental education programs in schools. Each initiative will provide direct value to the communities within the fund’s coverage area.
