India’s renewable energy landscape continues to expand, with KPI Green Energy securing a 200 MW solar power project from SJVN Limited, a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The project, valued at ₹696.50 crore, will be developed at the GIPCL Renewable Energy Park in Khavda, Gujarat, one of the country’s emerging hubs for large-scale clean energy infrastructure.
This development represents a key step in accelerating India’s transition toward sustainable power generation. The project’s scale and location reinforce Gujarat’s leadership in renewable energy deployment and contribute to national goals of reducing carbon emissions and enhancing solar capacity.
Industry observers note that the award reflects the increasing collaboration between public sector undertakings and private developers to drive large-scale solar growth under India’s energy transition agenda. By participating in such landmark projects, companies like KPI Green Energy are positioning themselves as integral partners in supporting the government’s 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.
The project also underscores SJVN Limited’s ongoing efforts to diversify its renewable energy portfolio beyond hydropower, advancing the company’s commitment to green energy development. Once operational, the Khavda installation is expected to supply clean electricity to thousands of households while contributing to Gujarat’s status as a renewable energy powerhouse.
