HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), held a high-level meeting with a delegation from Shanghai Electric Group, led by Chairman Wu Lei, to discuss strategic co-operation in clean energy, sustainability, and digital transformation.
Al Tayer reaffirmed DEWA’s commitment to expanding partnerships with leading Chinese companies in renewable energy technologies to accelerate Dubai’s clean energy transition. The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in energy generation, distribution, and sustainable innovation, leveraging advanced technologies to meet global energy challenges.
The meeting also highlighted DEWA’s focus on advancing the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. Al Tayer emphasised that alliances with industry leaders such as Shanghai Electric are instrumental in driving the emirate’s vision for a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.
The partnership builds on a strong history of collaboration. Shanghai Electric, as the main contractor of a consortium, developed the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park — the world’s largest single-site concentrated solar power (CSP) project implemented under the independent power producer model. The AED 15.78 billion, 950MW phase integrates both CSP and photovoltaic technologies, reinforcing Dubai’s leadership in renewable energy deployment.
