Beyond Renewables & Recycling, a pioneering Indian climate-tech startup specializing in sustainable and high-value solar panel recycling, has raised pre-seed funding led by Momentum Capital, a U.S.-based venture capital firm. The investment will accelerate the development of Beyond Renewables’ proprietary recycling technology, enhance its waste collection and supply chain network, and scale up operations to tackle India’s growing solar waste challenge.

Founded in 2024 by Manhar Dixit and Vedant Taneja, Beyond Renewables has already validated its innovative recycling process at the laboratory scale, achieving high material recovery and purity rates for valuable resources such as silver and silicon. This pre-seed round, completed in October 2025, marks the company’s first external fundraise. Alongside lead investor Momentum Capital, participants in the round include Venture Catalysts, IIMA Ventures, Oorjan Cleantech, and Gautam Das, founder of Oorjan.

India’s rapid transition toward renewable energy is creating a new challenge — the management of end-of-life solar panels. The country is projected to generate nearly 1.2 million tons of solar PV waste by 2040, with estimates rising to 4.8 million tons under an early-loss scenario. Currently, much of this waste is processed by the informal sector, which lacks the facilities and technology to safely handle hazardous materials, resulting in environmental pollution and poor material recovery.

Beyond Renewables aims to solve this problem through its proprietary, eco-efficient recycling process that recovers more than 95% of high-value materials from discarded solar panels. By combining advanced thermal and chemical treatment technologies, the company extracts aluminum, glass, copper, silicon, and precious metals such as silver with exceptional purity levels. This approach not only minimizes waste but also transforms discarded panels into a reliable source of sustainably sourced raw materials, contributing to a circular economy in India’s renewable energy sector.

Commenting on the investment, Ankur Shrivastava, Managing Partner at Momentum Capital, said that Beyond Renewables’ mission aligns perfectly with the fund’s vision of backing deep-tech startups addressing pressing environmental challenges. “The solar waste problem is not a distant issue — it’s an immediate and accelerating threat. Beyond Renewables’ advanced technology, strategic partnerships, and clear execution roadmap make it ideally positioned to lead this emerging sector, which is projected to become a ₹20,000 crore market by 2040. We’re proud to support their efforts to build a sustainable and circular future for India’s solar industry,” he said.

The company has also established a multi-channel sourcing strategy, collaborating with solar asset developers, EPC contractors, manufacturers, and dismantlers to ensure a consistent flow of end-of-life panels. Unlike conventional recyclers that depend on low-efficiency mechanical methods, Beyond Renewables emphasizes eco-effective and high-value recovery techniques that maximize both environmental and economic benefits.

Speaking about the milestone, Manhar Dixit, CEO of Beyond Renewables & Recycling, said, “With India’s solar installations now exceeding 127 GW and domestic manufacturing capacity on the rise, sustainability must extend from production to disposal. This funding led by Momentum Capital validates our vision and strengthens our ability to deliver a fully circular, environmentally sound recycling solution. We’re not just recycling panels; we’re converting waste into a national resource and shaping a sustainable future.”

After extensive R&D and process validation, Beyond Renewables has begun commissioning its first large-scale industrial recycling facility in Rajasthan. The company already has over 2,000 metric tons of solar waste secured in its processing pipeline and is expanding partnerships with module manufacturers, EPC companies, and solar asset owners to ensure steady material inflow. Supported by IIT Mandi Catalyst and NSRCEL, Beyond Renewables is also strengthening its sales channels and has received letters of intent (LOIs) from multiple buyers for recycled materials such as glass, silicon, and metals. With this strategic funding and upcoming facility, Beyond Renewables is positioned to become a frontrunner in India’s solar waste recycling sector, supporting the nation’s clean energy ambitions while promoting sustainable resource recovery and circular manufacturing practices.
