Surat-based industrialist Govind Dholakia has announced that each member of the Indian women’s cricket team will receive rooftop solar panels alongside handcrafted diamond jewellery after their historic victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
Dholakia, founder of Shree Ramkrishna Exports, said the solar-panel gift is intended to ensure that “the light they bring to our nation continues to shine in their own lives as well.”
The rooftop solar installations will be mounted at the individual homes of the champion players, marking an unconventional and forward-looking reward system that links athletic excellence with clean-energy adoption.
This move comes at the same time that the team received a record prize-money increase of 297% over the 2022 edition, further emphasising the importance of their achievement. While diamond jewellery celebrates the players’ brilliance, the solar panels symbolise investment in sustainability, self-reliance and future-oriented recognition.
Observers say this dual-gift approach signals a shift in how success is rewarded — combining personal recognition with energy conversion assets that deliver long-term value and ecological impact.
