BrightNight and Cordelio Power Achieve Financial Close for 300 MW Hybrid Renewable Project in Arizona

BrightNight, a leading next-generation power and digital infrastructure company, together with its joint venture partner Cordelio Power, announced that they have reached financial close for the Pioneer Clean Energy Center, a major hybrid renewable energy project in Yuma, Arizona. The facility will combine a 300 MWac solar plant with a 300 MW / 1,200 MWh battery energy storage system, delivering reliable, dispatchable clean power to meet Arizona’s growing electricity needs. Developed under a long-term tolling agreement with a local utility, the project will play a critical role in enhancing grid reliability and supporting the state’s clean energy transition.

Financing for the project was secured through a syndicate of leading global lenders, including Crédit Agricole, MUFG, Royal Bank of Canada, National Bank of Canada, CoBank, and ING. The successful close underscores strong market confidence in BrightNight and Cordelio Power’s ability to deliver large-scale, technically complex hybrid energy assets that integrate solar generation and advanced battery storage. It also strengthens the companies’ position as key players in the fast-growing U.S. renewable energy market.

Once completed, Pioneer will provide firm, on-demand clean energy to homes and businesses, improving grid flexibility and resilience amid rising energy demand in Arizona. The project’s design was optimized using BrightNight’s proprietary AI-based software, PowerAlpha®, which integrates advanced analytics to enhance performance, efficiency, and financial returns. Construction at the site is already underway, with commercial operations expected to begin by April 2027.
