Construction has officially commenced on one of Poland’s largest hybrid renewable energy parks, the Brzezinka project, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Developed by VSB Polska, the project represents a major step forward in the country’s clean energy transition, integrating a 303-megawatt-peak (MWp) photovoltaic installation with a 106-megawatt (MW) battery energy storage system (BESS). Spanning more than 260 hectares northeast of Wrocław, this large-scale hybrid facility is set to redefine renewable infrastructure standards not only in Poland but also across Europe.
The Brzezinka hybrid park will combine advanced solar and energy storage technologies to deliver stable, sustainable electricity to the grid. The site’s infrastructure will include approximately 70 kilometres of underground cabling to connect it to the designated grid connection point and the installation of over 467,000 photovoltaic modules. With construction of the access roads already underway, the project has officially entered its execution phase in the municipality of Oleśnica, covering the districts of Brzezinka and Syców. Full commissioning of the project is expected by the end of 2027, marking a significant milestone in Poland’s renewable energy development.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together local landowners, community members, and government officials, underscoring the project’s regional importance. Łukasz Kasprzak, Deputy Director of the Department of Economy and Promotion at the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, highlighted that the Brzezinka project not only supports the region’s energy strategy focused on modern, low-emission sources but also enhances energy security and economic growth. He noted that the initiative symbolizes effective collaboration between regional authorities, local stakeholders, businesses, and international investors—creating new employment opportunities and advancing sustainable development in Lower Silesia.
Hubert Kowalski, Managing Director of VSB Polska, emphasized that the Brzezinka project exemplifies how renewable energy generation, economic progress, and community involvement can work together to deliver long-term benefits. Meanwhile, Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of VSB Group, noted that the project’s start signals the beginning of a new era in hybrid renewable energy, combining solar, wind, and battery technologies into a unified system.
He also remarked that Poland’s growing energy demand and evolving policy landscape provide an ideal environment for continued renewable energy investment. Once completed, the Brzezinka hybrid park will serve as a landmark project, showcasing how innovation, sustainability, and collaboration can power a greener, more resilient future for both Poland and Europe.
