CESC Green Power, the renewable energy subsidiary of Kolkata-based CESC, has received in-principle approval from Odisha’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) for a series of major green energy investments worth ₹4,500 crore.
The approved proposal includes several large-scale initiatives: a 3 GW solar cell manufacturing unit, a 3 GW solar module production facility, a 5 GWh advanced chemistry battery cell pack and solar components plant, and a 60 MW AC captive power project. All facilities will be set up in Dhenkanal district and rolled out across three phases.
The development marks a significant expansion of CESC’s footprint in solar and battery storage manufacturing. The company has also assured the state that it will meet financial closure requirements and provide full backing through equity support and strategic inputs.
