Epsilon Carbon Pvt. Ltd., a global producer of carbon black and specialty carbon products, has released its 5th annual Sustainability Report for FY 2024–25, outlining significant progress across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics. The report, themed “Carbon Conscious Value Chain,” underscores the company’s integrated approach to sustainable manufacturing.
According to the report, Epsilon Carbon recorded a 90% reduction in Scope 2 emissions, driven by its 17MW captive power plant that operates on waste heat generated from carbon black production. The company also achieved a 19% reduction in energy consumption intensity from its baseline year, meeting 68% of total energy requirements through waste heat recovery and avoiding over 50,000 tons of CO₂ emissions. Epsilon Carbon additionally completed its Scope 3 emissions inventory for FY24 and FY25, strengthening transparency in climate reporting.
On the social front, the company reported zero fatalities and a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) of 0.2, reaffirming its safety standards. Workforce diversity continued improving, with women representing 9.82% of employees and 10% of board members. Through CSR initiatives in education, healthcare, and livelihoods, the company impacted more than 165,000 people during FY25.
Commenting on the report, Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, said the company’s progress reflects a balance of innovation, responsibility, and long-term value creation. “Whether it’s reducing emissions, using resources more responsibly, or supporting our communities, every step reflects the future we want to create,” he said. “We will continue to grow Epsilon Carbon responsibly and ensure our work leaves a positive impact on people and the planet.”
Epsilon Carbon’s sustainability disclosures align with GRI 2021 Standards, SASB, and the UN SDGs, with third-party assurance provided by TÜV India.
Looking ahead, the company is advancing its circular economy strategy through the development of India’s first fully integrated tyre-recycling plant in Karnataka. Set to be commissioned by FY27, the facility will process 30,000 metric tons of end-of-life tyres annually to produce Terrablack™ products, reinforcing Epsilon Carbon’s commitment to circularity in the tyre and carbon black value chain.
