NTPC Green Energy Limited has added a new boost to its renewable energy portfolio with the start of commercial operation of a part of the large Khavda Solar PV Project in Gujarat. The company confirmed that from midnight on November 19, 2025, an additional 75.5 MW of solar power has begun generating electricity. This new capacity is a part of the 1255 MW Khavda Solar PV Project being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited. The project is progressing under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III, aimed at expanding clean energy generation in the country.
With this development, NTPC Green Energy Limited has taken another important step in strengthening its renewable energy presence. Before the commissioning of this 75.5 MW capacity, the commercial capacity of the NGEL Group was 7563.575 MW. After the addition, the company’s total installed capacity has increased to 7639.075 MW. This marks a steady growth in the company’s efforts to scale up clean power and support India’s renewable energy targets.
The company shared this update with the stock exchanges, NSE and BSE, on November 18, 2025, following the requirements of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations of 2015. The disclosure highlights the ongoing progress of the Khavda Solar PV Project and shows the commitment of the company to bring large-scale solar capacity into operation. As more sections of the 1255 MW project are completed, the company is expected to further strengthen its role in India’s clean energy transition. When the full project becomes operational, NTPC Green Energy Limited will have a stronger position as one of the key contributors to the country’s renewable energy growth.
