The Organizing Committee of the World Hydrogen Expo 2025 (WHE), co-chaired by Nam-hoon Kang, Chairman of the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, and Jae-hong Kim, Chairman of the Korea Hydrogen Alliance, announced the launch of the H2 Innovation Award, a global platform designed to identify and promote next-generation hydrogen technologies and business models. Pre-registration for the award has officially begun, opening a dedicated stage for emerging innovation across the hydrogen value chain.
The H2 Innovation Award aims to spotlight 10 pioneering technology companies demonstrating exceptional capabilities in hydrogen production, storage and transportation, and utilization. Co-organized by the Korea Energy Agency and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Evaluation and Planning, the award program seeks to accelerate the commercialization and global expansion of cutting-edge hydrogen solutions.
Eligible startups and companies were invited to submit their entries between September 22 and October 31 via the official World Hydrogen Expo 2025 website, completing both the application form and a detailed technology introduction document by email.
Following the close of applications, a thorough document review will select 10 finalists. A final presentation round will take place in November, culminating in the awards ceremony scheduled for December 4, during the WHE 2025 event at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2, Ilsan. Honors include one Grand Prize (10 million KRW and a plaque), three Top Excellence Awardsโone per sector (5 million KRW and a plaque), and six Excellence Awardsโtwo per sector (certificate and a 2 million KRW discount on the next yearโs booth fee). Winners will also benefit from on-site promotional opportunities and dedicated platforms to showcase their innovations.
In the 2024 edition, ILJIN Hysolus received the Grand Prize for its โType 4 Hydrogen Transport Tube Trailer,โ while Utility Global, Mt.H Control Valves, and EFLOW were recognized with Top Excellence Awards for their breakthrough technologies.
Commenting on the initiative, Chairman Nam-hoon Kang emphasized that the successful advancement of the hydrogen economy hinges on real-world application and market adoption. โThe H2 Innovation Award is not merely a ceremonyโit is a strategic catalyst for industry-wide technology diffusion and a driver of future clean-energy competitiveness,โ he said.
The World Hydrogen Expo 2025 will run from December 4โ7, bringing together leading Korean and international hydrogen companies and showcasing the sectorโs latest advancements.
