GameChange Solar is preparing a major scale-up of its transformer manufacturing operations in India as the company moves to support accelerating demand from renewable energy projects, energy storage systems, and data centres. The expansion centres on a large transformer production facility being developed in Taloja, Maharashtra, under the companyโ€™s balance-of-system division, GameChange BOS.

The upcoming 180,000 sq ft factory is designed to manufacture up to 1,800 medium-voltage transformers annually, with future scalability planned. The units will range from 0.5 MVA to 25 MVA, with voltage levels going up to 69 kV. The company expects the facilityโ€™s total manufacturing capability to reach 5,400 MVA as production ramps up.

The move aligns with Indiaโ€™s โ€œMake in Indiaโ€ and โ€œAtmanirbhar Bharatโ€ initiatives aimed at reducing import dependence for critical power-sector equipment. GameChange BOS intends to supply the domestic market as well as cater to international demand from regions such as Europe and the United States.

The expansion comes as GameChange Solar strengthens its position in Indiaโ€™s solar tracker segment. The company has secured 7 GW of orders in FY25 and now has more than 13 GW of projects either installed or under construction nationwide. Its domestic manufacturing ecosystem for tracker and racking components has crossed 20 GW per year.

Industry sources also indicate that GameChangeโ€™s India business has reported strong revenue momentum, supported by increased investments across renewable generation and grid-modernisation projects.

By integrating transformer manufacturing into its India operations, GameChange Solar aims to build a more vertically aligned supply chain and reduce delivery timelines for utility-scale projects. The company sees India as a major global manufacturing hub, with the new facility positioned to serve both emerging and mature energy markets.
