POWERCHINA has completed and officially handed over the 69 kV South Bangkok Substation Project in Thailand, a key infrastructure development expected to enhance power reliability across Bangkok and nearby industrial regions.
The substation, located within an existing power plant in southern Bangkok, will supply electricity to downtown Bangkok and the industrial hubs of Samut Prakan Province. The facility is positioned as a critical node supporting the stability of the power grid in Thailand’s central economic corridor.
Developed as a major upgrade to legacy systems, the new substation was constructed within the footprint of the older plant, modernising the facility’s electrical infrastructure and expanding its operational capabilities.
Once operational, the substation is expected to ease load stress on Thailand’s transmission network, enhance regional power supply capacity, and improve energy efficiency. The project is also anticipated to support broader grid optimisation efforts, underpin industrial growth, and reinforce energy security across the region.
The successful handover highlights POWERCHINA’s growing presence and execution capabilities in Thailand’s power sector, further strengthening the company’s brand influence in the local market.
