Berlin-based Saxovent Renewables has acquired a construction-ready 81.8-megawatt photovoltaic (PV) project from developer Milvio in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The project, located south of Rostock, has already secured a 20 MW bid under Germanyโ€™s Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) tender, with the remaining capacity expected to be marketed through a power purchase agreement (PPA).

Saxovent has indicated that the plant offers the potential to include a battery storage system, which is currently under evaluation ahead of the PV plantโ€™s full commissioning. The company confirmed that the solar park will be connected to the grid quickly but did not provide a specific timeline or investment details.

The photovoltaic facility will be developed on approximately 57.8 hectares of leased farmland, with part of the generated electricity expected to be purchased by a regional company.

Thorsten Freise, CEO of Saxovent Renewables, said the project โ€œsignificantly strengthens our photovoltaic portfolioโ€ and highlighted its technical appeal due to the potential for battery storage. The acquisition further expands Saxoventโ€™s presence in Northern Germany and adds a major approved project to its renewable energy portfolio.
