Ecoprogetti has successfully installed a fully automatic 400 MW solar module production line in Salalah, Oman. This new facility marks a significant milestone for solar manufacturing in the country and strengthens Ecoprogettiโs presence in the Middle East. The Salalah plant allows Ecoprogetti to cover the entire territory of Oman, following the success of its Sheida Solar line in Sohar, and positions the company as the market leader in local photovoltaic module manufacturing.
The new plant, established for American Advanced Clean Energy (AACE), is entirely designed and built in Italy. It integrates the most advanced technologies for producing TOPCon and HJT modules, with full automation covering all stages of production. This includes stringing, lay-up, lamination, framing, testing, and quality inspections. The system is designed for high productivity and quality while remaining flexible to adapt to evolving technologies and market needs. According to Ecoprogetti, its solutions are intended not only for new manufacturers but also for existing companies looking to achieve higher automation, lower operating costs, and precise process quality monitoring.
Omanโs solar market is experiencing rapid growth, driven by the countryโs high solar irradiance levels, estimated at 5โ7 kWh/mยฒ/day, and a peak power demand of around 7,500 MW. Renewable energyโs share in Omanโs national power mix has increased significantly, reaching 21% in 2025 compared to 9% the previous year. The addition of the Salalah plant ensures nationwide production coverage, with both northern and southern regions served by local manufacturing. Ecoprogetti now holds the majority of Omanโs photovoltaic module manufacturing market, highlighting the reliability and appeal of Italian technology in the country.
AACE, the facilityโs operator, is a U.S.-based photovoltaic module manufacturer that benefits from Omanโs Free Trade Agreement with the United States. This allows AACE to export solar modules with preferential access to the U.S., one of the largest and fastest-growing solar markets globally. The company also focuses heavily on research and development, aiming to position itself as an innovation hub rather than just a manufacturer. AACEโs modules are UL and IEC-certified and designed to compete with leading global producers. The companyโs CEO, Mohamed Hauter, emphasized that their strategy prioritizes technological advancement and vertical expansion to become one of the worldโs most recognized providers of high-performance solar solutions.
Laura Sartore, CEO of Ecoprogetti, highlighted that the Salalah plant represents another important step in their collaboration with Omani partners. She noted that with two plants now fully operational, Ecoprogetti supports the growth of the local photovoltaic value chain and contributes to Omanโs vision for a sustainable energy future.
Beyond Oman, Ecoprogetti has established itself as a leader in the GCC region, installing the largest number of PV module manufacturing lines and holding over 50% of the market share. The company operates PV lines across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, with a service center and spare parts warehouse in Sharjah to provide technical support, training, and maintenance. The new Salalah facility is expected to strengthen Omanโs role as a strategic hub for photovoltaic manufacturing and export, reducing dependence on imports and enhancing local industrial expertise.
This development reflects the growing importance of solar energy in the Gulf region and highlights the role of advanced technology and international collaboration in supporting renewable energy growth. Ecoprogettiโs investment in Oman underlines the countryโs commitment to sustainability and positions it as a competitive player in the global solar industry.
