Bharat Electronics Limited has reached a major sustainability milestone with the commissioning of a 210 kWp rooftop solar power plant at its Bengaluru Complex. The plant was inaugurated by the Director of the Bengaluru Complex, in the presence of senior officials, including the General Manager and Chief Officer. With this addition, BEL has now fully utilised all feasible rooftop spaces at the campus for solar power generation.

This development makes BEL the first Defence Public Sector Undertaking in India to achieve RE100 status, meaning it now meets 100 percent of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources at the Bengaluru facility. The achievement reflects the company’s long-term commitment to clean energy and responsible operations.

BEL’s solar journey at the Bengaluru Complex began in 2012 with a small 30 kWp installation. Over the years, the capacity has steadily grown, reaching a total of around 2.6 MWp of rooftop solar power. The milestone also supports BEL’s wider goal of becoming a Net Zero company in the future.
