GoodEnough Energy Commissions India’s Largest 7 GWh BESS Gigafactory In Uttar Pradesh, Strengthening Domestic Energy Storage

GoodEnough Energy has commissioned India’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Gigafactory in Noida, marking a significant step in the country’s journey toward clean energy. The facility, which is now fully operational, has an initial production capacity of seven GWh and is designed to provide advanced energy storage solutions for both domestic and international markets. The company has already begun deploying BESS solutions across India, responding to strong demand from multiple industries, including manufacturing, infrastructure, healthcare, mining, and commercial real estate.

India is witnessing rapid growth in renewable energy generation, and estimates suggest the country will need up to 230 GWh of energy storage capacity to support this expansion. Until now, the global battery market has been dominated by China and other international players. The commissioning of GoodEnough Energy’s Noida Gigafactory reflects the country’s growing capability to produce batteries domestically, supporting the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The investment in the Noida facility exceeds ₹450 crore and aligns with India’s National Energy Storage Mission and net-zero goals. GoodEnough Energy plans to increase its capacity to over 25 GWh within the next three years, which will strengthen India’s position in the global energy storage market. The Gigafactory is not only a manufacturing hub but also a platform for innovation, green job creation, and climate leadership. The company is actively supporting national initiatives, including the National Energy Storage Mission and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which aim to promote sustainable energy solutions across the country.

Strategically located in Noida, the Gigafactory benefits from strong logistics infrastructure and a skilled engineering workforce. It is expected to generate employment opportunities for local youth and support a domestic supply chain ecosystem, involving over 100 small and medium enterprises as suppliers and partners. This approach will help strengthen local industry while boosting India’s self-reliance in advanced energy storage technology.

The current 7 GWh capacity of the Gigafactory can help reduce carbon emissions in high-energy-consuming sectors, with an estimated prevention of over five million tons of CO₂ annually. Following planned capacity expansion, GoodEnough Energy aims to achieve a long-term reduction of up to 15 million tons by 2026. The company’s efforts reflect India’s increasing focus on sustainable energy solutions and its commitment to building a resilient and low-carbon energy future. With the commissioning of this Gigafactory, GoodEnough Energy has positioned itself as a key contributor to the country’s emerging energy storage ecosystem and a model for innovation and climate leadership.
