Arkema and Senior Forge Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Innovation in Next-Generation Battery Materials for Renewable Energy

Arkema, a global leader in specialty materials, and Senior, a high-performance battery separator provider, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their strategic partnership and jointly drive innovation across the battery value chain.

Under the agreement, the two companies will enhance technical, commercial, and application-focused collaboration, leveraging Arkemaโ€™s battery material portfolio and Seniorโ€™s advanced separator technologies and industrialization capabilities. The partnership aims to accelerate the development, validation, and large-scale deployment of innovative materials for next-generation batteries in the rapidly growing global energy sector.

Key areas of focus will include advanced adhesion technologies, controlled electrode deposition and coating processes, low-temperature cell assembly, and emerging semi-solid battery manufacturing techniques. By combining Arkemaโ€™s expertise in specialty materials with Seniorโ€™s deep know-how in separator design and industrialization, the collaboration seeks to improve battery performance, safety, and manufacturing efficiency.

Arkemaโ€™s battery materials portfolio includes Kynarยฎ PVDF, known for chemical resistance and mechanical integrity, and Incellionโ„ข acrylic-based solutions that optimize adhesion and performance. These materials aim to enhance battery safety, durability, and efficiency, supporting the global transition to electric mobility and large-scale renewable energy storage.

Senior, with R&D and industrial facilities across China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States, provides high-performance separator films for lithium-ion batteries. Its technologies enable safer and more efficient energy storage solutions for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and renewable energy systems.
