Oriana Power Limited has announced that it has received a major order for the development of a large floating solar power project in Jharkhand. The company has secured purchase orders to set up a 234 MW grid-tied Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) plant. The project will be developed at the Maithon Dam reservoir, which is operated by the Damodar Valley Corporation.

The total value of the contract is estimated at ₹1,180.53 crore, including GST. The contract covers multiple components of the project, such as the supply of equipment, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services, and long-term operation and maintenance of the solar facility.

Under the agreement, Oriana Power will handle the complete development of the project. The company’s scope of work includes project design and engineering, procurement of materials, construction activities, testing, and commissioning of the floating solar plant. In addition, the company will also manage the civil and electrical works required for the project, along with insurance coverage and the supply of essential spare parts.

After the commissioning of the plant, Oriana Power will continue to manage the operation and maintenance of the facility through a dedicated maintenance contract. This will ensure that the plant performs efficiently over the long term and maintains stable electricity generation.

The project is considered significant because of its large scale and technical complexity. Floating solar plants are specialized installations that are built on water bodies, allowing power generation without occupying large areas of land. Such systems can also help reduce water evaporation from reservoirs.

According to the company’s official filing, the project is expected to be completed within 18 months. The contract has been awarded by a domestic entity, and the company confirmed that its promoters or group companies do not have any financial interest in the awarding organization. The transaction has also been conducted on an arm’s length basis.

The project highlights the growing expansion of renewable energy in India and strengthens Oriana Power’s position in the large-scale solar EPC segment.
