Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has invited bids for a major transmission infrastructure project in Andhra Pradesh, marking another step toward strengthening the countryโs clean energy ecosystem. The tender, issued under Reference No. CC/T/W-TW/DOM/A00/26/03950 (RFX Number: 5002005190) is for a pre-bid tie-up related to Transmission Line Package TL02.
The project focuses on the development of the PendurthiโVizagโSrikakulam 765 kV DC transmission line (Part-II). This line is part of a larger transmission system planned to support upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Visakhapatnam region. With India pushing strongly toward renewable energy and green fuel adoption, this infrastructure is expected to play an important role in integrating large-scale industrial energy demand with the national grid.
The transmission project is being awarded through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. This method allows developers to compete on tariffs, helping ensure cost efficiency and transparency in project allocation. It also encourages private sector participation in large transmission projects, which is important for faster development of grid infrastructure.
According to the tender details, the project falls under the electrical works category and is open for bidding. The tender fee has been fixed at โน25,000. Interestingly, the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) for this pre-bid tie-up stage has been kept at zero. This is not unusual in such cases, as developers may be required to submit a bid securing declaration instead. However, once the project is awarded, the selected bidder will likely need to provide a Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG), which is usually a percentage of the total contract value to ensure proper execution of the project.
The bidding process is being conducted through the PRANIT portal, which is POWERGRIDโs e-procurement platform. The tender was published on March 16, 2026, and interested bidders could start purchasing documents from the same date. The last date for document sale is March 28, 2026, while the deadline for submitting bids is March 30, 2026, by 11:00 AM. The bids will be opened shortly after, at 11:30 AM on the same day.
The timeline for submission is relatively short, indicating the urgency of the project, especially considering the governmentโs focus on green hydrogen development. The transmission line is expected to provide reliable power evacuation and connectivity for upcoming clean energy-based industrial projects in the region.
The tender is being handled by Sahil Garg, Assistant Manager at POWERGRID, based at its headquarters โSaudaminiโ in Gurugram. Interested companies are required to meet all technical and financial qualification criteria before submitting their bids.
Overall, this project is an important step in strengthening transmission infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. It also supports Indiaโs broader plan to build a strong green energy network and position regions like Visakhapatnam as key hubs for future clean energy industries such as green hydrogen and green ammonia.
