The IWIP Charity Foundation, part of the Yongqing Group owned by Tsingshan Industrial Holdings, has donated 8MWh of grid-forming energy storage system (GFM ESS) solutions to two remote islands in Indonesia, aiming to establish stable and reliable power infrastructure in off-grid regions.
The project is being implemented by PT Dogo Teknologi Energi (DoGo), which is responsible for delivering the complete solution, including the energy storage system, power conversion system (PCS), and integrated communication and management platforms. The company also led system design, grid simulation, and consulting services to ensure the systems can autonomously create a stable electricity network in challenging island environments.
The initiative aligns with Indonesiaโs broader clean energy ambitions. In August 2025, the government announced plans to accelerate its energy transition by targeting the development of 100 GW of solar power capacity and 320 GWh of battery storage across approximately 80,000 villages and centralized solar installations. Grid-connected and off-grid energy storage solutions are expected to play a key role in supporting electrification in remote islands, mining zones, and isolated โpower islandโ systems.
The deployment of GFM ESS technology is expected to improve electricity accessibility, enhance grid stability, and provide a scalable model for addressing energy challenges in geographically dispersed regions.
The IWIP Charity Foundation stated that the donation reflects its commitment to social responsibility and global sustainability goals. By bringing clean and reliable power to underserved communities, the initiative aims to improve local livelihoods, reduce regional energy disparities, and support Indonesiaโs long-term transition toward renewable energy.
