Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced a major tender to develop high-voltage transmission infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative is aimed at supporting Indiaโs growing green energy sector, especially the upcoming Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in the Vizag region.
The tender, issued under Reference Number CC/T/W-TW/DOM/A02/26/04032 (RFX Number: 5002005206), focuses on a pre-bid tie-up for Transmission Line Package TL04. The project is an important part of the countryโs efforts to build a strong transmission network that can meet the rising power demand of clean energy projects.
The package is divided into two main parts. The first involves the construction of the Khammam-II to Pendurthi (Vizag) 765 kV double circuit transmission line. The second part includes a line connecting Khammam-II to the existing Khammam 400 kV (quad) double circuit line. These transmission lines are part of the Phase-I system planned to support large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production facilities in the region.
This project will be executed through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. This process ensures transparency and helps in selecting the most cost-effective bidder. It also allows POWERGRID to finalize its Request for Proposal (RfP) submission to the Bid Process Coordinator in a structured manner. The tender is categorized as an open tender under the โWorksโ segment, allowing participation from qualified companies across the power and energy sectors.
The tender process began on March 24, 2026, with the sale of documents and submission of soft copies. While the tender value is currently mentioned as zero due to its competitive nature, interested bidders are required to pay a non-refundable tender fee of โน25,000. At this stage, there is no Earnest Money Deposit (EMD), which makes it easier for companies to participate in the initial phase.
As per the timeline, the last date to purchase the tender documents is April 5, 2026, by 11:55 PM. The deadline for submitting bids is April 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, and the bids will be opened on the same day at 11:30 AM. All submissions and related activities will be carried out through the PRANIT Portal, which is POWERGRIDโs online tendering platform.
The tender process is being managed by Satyam Gupta, Engineer (CS), at POWERGRIDโs headquarters in Gurgaon, Haryana. This transmission project is expected to play a key role in strengthening grid connectivity between Khammam and Vizag. It will help ensure a stable and reliable power supply for future green fuel projects and support Indiaโs transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
