In a significant move to accelerate clean energy deployment in Southeast Asia, August Energy and Mega Energy have announced the formation of a new joint venture, August Mega Energy, aimed at serving Vietnam’s commercial and industrial (C&I) energy sector.

The partnership, backed by institutional capital commitments of up to USD 100 million through a mix of equity and debt financing, plans to deploy over 200 MWp of clean energy capacity over the next three years. The portfolio will include onsite solar installations, utility-scale solar farms, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), targeting factories, industrial parks, and large commercial establishments across Vietnam.

The newly formed entity will focus on both greenfield project development and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) of existing operating assets and portfolios. By offering an integrated service model—covering project origination, financing, engineering, construction, and long-term operations—the company aims to address the growing demand for reliable and sustainable power solutions in the region.

Vietnam has rapidly emerged as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic clean energy markets, driven by rising industrial electricity demand, stricter carbon compliance requirements, and the cost competitiveness of solar power. However, the C&I segment remains underpenetrated, even as global supply chain pressures push corporates toward credible decarbonisation strategies.

The founding companies bring a combined track record of more than 500 MWp of solar capacity deployed or under development across Asia. Their client portfolio includes multinational manufacturers, industrial park developers, and institutional real estate owners, positioning the joint venture to scale operations efficiently within the Vietnamese market.

Commenting on the development, Kunal Mehta, CEO of August Energy, highlighted the company’s established engineering capabilities, operational standards, and regional experience as key enablers for executing complex solar and storage projects. He emphasized that the partnership enhances on-ground execution strength and commercial agility in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Samresh Kumar, CEO of August Mega Energy and Mega Energy, noted that Vietnam’s C&I energy market is entering a high-growth phase. He stated that the joint venture aims to combine capital, technical expertise, and local presence to deliver scalable and cost-effective clean energy solutions, while inviting stakeholders across the energy ecosystem to collaborate in advancing the country’s energy transition.
