In Conversation with Mr.Ashok D M – Chairman and Managing Director Avi Solar Energy Pvt Ltd.
Let’s begin with a glimpse of your company’s presence and offerings in India?
Ashok: Avi Solar founded in 2010. Offers O&M and EPC services, and Remote monitoring products.
Avi Solar is rated as No.1 O&M Service provider in the utility-scale segment in India by GTM Research and SOLICHAMBA. We are providing O&M service for more than 35 PV plants across 9 states for more than 600MWp total capacity.
Avi Solar also has indigenously developed innovative wireless products and solutions for Solar Power plant Remote Monitoring, Asset Management and Solar Analytics.
Avi Solar EPC team has successfully commissioned 6 PV plants of cumulative size of 18+MW and more than 2MWp Rooftops.
What have been some of the recent developments at your organisation?
Ashok: Avi Solar strengthened its management team with passionate and successful professionals in their domain. Mr. Nilesh Vaishnav has joined as CEO & Director in June 2017 with 36+ years experience. Mr. Nithin B has joined as CFO and Director in April 2017 with 26+ years experience. Building robust internal process to meet the market demand.
Solar Energy in India is on the surge and soon will become a trending industry. What is your outlook on Indian O&M Sector for the next 5 years?
Ashok: Solar Power plants generates energy for 25 years, hence professional O&M service is a key to get maximum energy from Solar PV plants for it’s entire lifetime. As per MNRE target Solar Power plants capacity expected to cross 100GW in next 5 years, Demand for professional O&M service provider will go up at the same time cost pressure also be challenging. O&M service provider needs to be innovate in optimizing the cost, reducing the manpower by automation of labour intensive tasks, provide value added services to assess and reduce breakdown when plants gets older.
What can be done to increase performance of the project while improving the life of the project?
Ashok: Design and Build PV plant for 25 years life, selection of each component with long life is important. Identifying the frequent breakdown points and maintaining the sufficient spares. Local and Remote Monitoring infrastructure to quickly identify the breakdown and avoid generation loss. Skilled manpower to quickly restore the breakdowns. Planning and Tracking of all preventive maintenance activities to reduce the downtime and increase the plant life.
What are your growth plans for the Indian market? What are the milestones you wish to achieve by the end of this fiscal?
Ashok: We are expecting PV plant O&M service to go up from current 600+ MWp to 1000+MWp by end of March 2018 and may cross 2000MW by end of Dec 2018. We are building strong the leadership team to handle this massive market demand. We are also strengthening our SCADA and Remote monitoring solution with advance feature to accurately predict the generation and reduce the plant downtime.
