Spark Solar has evolved as reliable solar module manufacturer.

Interviews & Talks
In Conversation with Mr. Siddharth Jakhotia – Director, Spark Solar
Let’s begin with a glimpse of your company’s presence and offerings in India?
Spark Solar has evolved as reliable solar module manufacturer. It has presence across India,Middle East and US. Spark Solar has gained admirable reputation with an un-paralleled growth with consistent quality in solar industry.
What have been some of the recent developments at your organisation?
Spark Solar is seeing increasing demand for high efficiency products which our proven RAPID series modules with Quadratech technology can deliver. Spark Solar is consistently investing in innovation and adding manpower. We will also be introducing new products this year and have
rammed up our capacities to cater to the customers for immediate availability of our modules.
Tell us a bit about the recent technology advancements in your sector?
The underlying force that drives everything in the PV industry is still LCOE. Further requirements on lowering price per kW/h will continue to drive the industry to seek new paths. Among various innovative technologies, the most fast-developing and latest industry trends across the PV supply chain is half cell technology. Combining technical maturity and feasibility, increased power generation, performance, lower marginal
cost, and increased shade tolerance, half cut module is expected to experience the strongest growth and achieve mainstream adoption over the next few years. Judging from where technologies have been heading, the growing popularity of half-cell modules is inevitable. As demand for high power, low degradation, and low cost products continues to rise in the global PV market, half-cell technology will demonstrate a new wave of changes in PV cell technologies and will experience a steady momentum going forward.
What have been the latest trends in demand for your products & services in India? Where do you see the next demand growth coming from?
Spark Solar has already started shipping its higher efficiency 5 busbar 144 half cut PERC cell solar modules. Strong global demand for the higher-efficiency modules is driving the growth of PERC and the next generation of n-type cell technologies.
Spark Solar will launch next gen 6 bus bar half-cut PERC cell modules in few months which will become a mainstream technology by 2020, as it occupies the leading position among the competing new technologies.
What are the policy and regulatory changes needed to achieve 100 GW of solar energy by 2022?
The government is pushing hard to achieve the 100GW target by 2022. The biggest bottleneck we see is financing, the country needs $100 billion in asset financing for renewable energy over the next five years. The biggest challenge facing solar deployment in commercial and industrial segment is the resistance of discoms to the implementation of associated policies such as net metering. Given that these consumer segments significantly contribute to their revenues, the financially unstable discoms stand to lose a large part of their business to rooftop solar power generation. The government needs to take appropriate steps in order to improve the execution of net metering policies, create better approval of infrastructure and provide low-cost financing for these projects.
What are your growth plans for the Indian market? What are the milestones you wish to achieve by next fiscal??
The company plans to follow a balanced approach in all the segments, that is, rooftop and ground- mounted solar, by banking on its strong product portfolio, quality, reliability and competitive cost, all of which will help it strengthen its position in the market. As a part of our commitment to the “Make in India” initiative by the Government of India, we will augment our current capacity of 90 MW to 300 MW by Dec 2019.

Anything else you would like to add for our readers.
