Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district tops in installing solar pumpsets

500 farmers are ready to install pumpsets. The pumpsets were installed in Vissannapet, Chatrai, Nuzvid and Bapulapadu upland mandals of Krishna district.

The Ministry of Renewable Energy is providing 33 per cent subsidy for five hp motors to a tune of Rs 1,62,000 and the Discoms is providing 56 per cent subsidy, to the tune of Rs 2,12,000. Farmers have to bear Rs 55,000. Majority of the farmers in upland areas of the district are opting for solar pumpsets to save horticulture crops as there was no source of irrigation facility to their agricultural fields.

The State government set a target to install 26,000 solar pumpsets in the State this year.
