Gujarat Tops In Solar Rooftop Installations With 261.97 MW. 

In the area of solar rooftop installations, Gujarat has stood first in the country with total 261.97 megawatts (MW) of installed rooftop solar capacity as on July 23, 2019. As per the Central government data, total rooftop solar installations in India is 1700.54 MW.

Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power R K Singh informed that Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have solar rooftop installations at 198.52 MW and 151.62 MW respectively. The government of India has provided total financial assistance or incentives of Rs 678.01 crore in fiscal 2016-17, Rs 169.73 crore for fiscal 2017-18 and Rs 446.77 crore in fiscal 2018-19 under the Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar programme, the official statement said.The Government of India has set a target of installation of 40,000 MW of Rooftop Solar (RTS) projects by the year 2022 in the country including installation of RTS on rooftop of houses.


TSREDCO Invites Bids 5.4 MW Rooftop Solar Tender with Net Metering.

Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (TSREDCO) has invited bids from interested entities for establishing several rooftop solar photovoltaic (SPV) projects of different capacities in the state under its net metering program.

The cumulative capacity of all the projects amounts to 5.4 MW. There will be 123 projects set up at different locations of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Education Institute Society Schools or Institutions (TSWREIS) under CAPEX (capital expenses) model with a five-year comprehensive maintenance contract.The last date for submitting the bids online is August 3, 2019. An earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹ 5 million (~$ 72,536) must be submitted by the bidder.  


Hyderabad Plans 8 MWp Solar Rooftop.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Project has planned captive solar plants with a capacity of  8 megawatt peak (MWp) in Metro depots and on station rooftops to meet 15 percent of the total electrical consumption.

As on date, 3 MWp have been commissioned and another 1 MWp is ready for commissioning. This plant has been developed on the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model by Ampsolar Generation Private Limited, through a power purchase agreement with L&T Metro Rail.


UPNEDA Tenders 25 MW Rooftop Solar Project.

The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has announced a tender to install 25 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic projects on top government and semi-government buildings in the state under RESCO model.The bid submission deadline is August 12, 2019, with the bid opening date of August 13, 2019.

The eligible bidders should participate in the site survey, design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning including warranty, operation, and maintenance of the projects. Bidders can apply for a minimum aggregate bid capacity of 1 MW and a maximum aggregate bid capacity of 10 MW.


TSSPDCL Commissions 100 kW Solar Plant At Sangareddy.

Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (TSSPDCL) has commissioned a 100 kW solar rooftop plant at its Sangareddy circle office.

This is part of the Distribution company’s effort to promote and integrate rooftop solar across its offices.Other TSSPDCL buildings across Vikarabad, Siddipet and Sangareddy are being solarised by Freyr Energy Services, a Hyderabad-based Solar PV installer. The entire project capacity is 590 kW.

These solar rooftop projects together are expected to reduce 393 tonnes of greenhouse emissions yearly and equivalent of planting 8,500 trees annually, leading to annual savings of approximately ₹62 lakh in their electricity bills


Amplus Invests ₹5 billion in an Open Access Solar Project in Uttar Pradesh.

Amplus Energy Solutions has invested in its second open access solar project of 100 MW in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh (UP). The investment in this project amounts to nearly ₹5 billion (~$ 72.5 million).

Amplus has already invested ₹2.5 billion (~$36 million) to establish a 50 MW solar open access project in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. The solar project in Mirzapur is still under construction and is likely to be commissioned by September 2019.

Amplus had also announced the installation of two open access projects in Haryana. According to the company, it owns India’s biggest single location open access solar project in Gadag in the state of Karnataka. The project supplies 175 MW of solar power to various businesses in the state.


 Delhi Shakur Basti Residents To Get Solar Power.

Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain inaugurated a scheme to provide solar power to Shakur Basti in Pitampura, under the Mukhyamantri Solar Power Yojana. This comes nine months after the launch of its second phase in October 2018.

“The company will put up the panels and maintain it for 25 years. You’ll get 24/7 discounted electricity of Rs 3 per unit at zero capital and maintenance cost, of which Rs 2 per unit will be given by the government. We hope all societies get it done,” said Jain.

The scheme proposes to derive 35 KW of energy from solar rooftop panels in domestic centres, at the rate of Rs 3 per unit for domestic consumers, housing societies, institutional and social sector in IPGCL scheme.
