Chandigarh’s CREST to give permission to install solar power plant online

Santosh Kumar, Director, Department of the Science and Technology, and CEO, Chandigarh Renewal Energy Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), said they were going to launch a software, which would work as a single window for all clearances needed before installing solar power plant.

At present, if any resident wants to install a solar power plant, he is required to obtain permission from various departments, including CREST and the Electricity Department. One has to apply for subsidy as well. However, the new software will help the applicant get all clearances after uploading the necessary information.

The software was in the final stage of testing. He said the need for such a software was felt when it came to their notice that residents were facing problems in getting permission to install solar power plants and they were being forced to run from pillar to post in different offices.
