MNRE Releases Benchmark Costs for Grid-connected Rooftop Solar for 2020-21

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has recently released benchmark costs for Grid-connected Rooftop Solar Photo-voltaic systems for the financial year 2020-21.

The benchmark costs for Grid-connected Rooftop Solar Photo-voltaic systems for the financial year 2020-21 is as under:

All the above benchmark costs are inclusive of total system cost including Photo-Voltaic solar modules, inverters, balance of systems including cables, Switches/Circuit Breakers /Connectors/ Junction Boxes, mounting structure, earthing, Lightning arrester, cost of meters (if any other than net meter), local connectivity cost, cost of civil works, foundations etc. and its installation, commissioning, transportation, insurance, capital cost of online monitoring, comprehensive maintenance charges for five years, applicable fees and taxes etc.

The above-mentioned benchmark costs are excluding net metering cost and battery back-up costs. 

MNRE stated that, All participating DISCOMS under the phase II of the rooftop solar programme must ensure that the rate is discovered through a transparent bidding process.

The benchmark cost for year 2020-21 will be applicable for all LoAs after 31.07.2020.

On 26th June, The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) released benchmark costs for Off-grid Solar PV Systems for the Year 2020-21.

Under the Ministry’s programs the above benchmark costs are made applicable in all cases from 16.07.2020.

These benchmark costs are for systems installed as per MNRE specifications inclusive of the total system cost and its installation, commissioning, transportation, insurance, comprehensive maintenance charges for five years, online monitoring, and applicable fees and taxes.
