MNRE recently passed an order requesting comments on draft specifications for technology neutral Lithium batteries for solar off-grid applications.
Ministry is implementing various schemes for promotion of off-grid solar applications such as solar street lights, solar study lamps, solar off-grid power packs. To ensure quality of the systems installed, systems specifications have been issued and upgraded by MNRE from time to time.
Ministry received representations from various stakeholders stating that specifications for these applications may be battery technology neutral and Lithium chemistries other than LFP must also be allowed to be installed with these systems.
Following broad technology neutral specifications is been decided by MNRE for Li battery:
The Ministry also requested stakeholders in the off-grid solar applications and energy storage sectors to provide comments/ suggestions on the above specifications.Comments/suggestions should be provided by 28.08.2020 through email to shobhit.srivastava@nic.in.
Under the existing specifications for solar street lights and solar study lamps, Lithium Ferro Phosphate batteries (LFP) is provided under the MNRE Schemes.
Please refer to below document for System specifications for 12 W LED solar street lights:
Specifications for solar study lamps is as follows :
Recently, The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued notification for extension of self certification for solar inverters. Earlier deadline for deadline was June 30, 2020 which now has been extended to 1 st December 2020.
Due to COVID 19 lockdown disruption the industry sought more time for compliance and hence six-month extension was announced , ministry stated. The extension would only apply to manufacturers holding valid International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) certificates.
