The Swiss company Terra Sola Group AG and its Algerian subsidiary Terra Sola PV Production SARL, together with the Chinese consortium partner Jinergy, have confirmed the construction of the largest factory for PV solar modules on the African continent in Ras El Ma / Sidi Bel, Algeria Abbès as part of the integrated $ 5 billion solar program for Algeria. Jinergy has been a partner in the Terra Sola consortium since 2018 for the development of a $ 5 billion integrated solar program for Algeria, which is now being implemented.
International know-how and top-class products for Algeria.
Jinergy is part of the state-owned Chinese energy company Jinneng and has risen to become one of the world’s leading solar companies and producers of tier 1 solar components since it was founded in 2013. Jinergy currently has an annual production capacity of 2.5GW solar cells and solar modules, has already implemented 5.6GW solar parks in 13 countries and was able to generate sales of 14.3 billion euros in 2019.
In addition to his many years of international experience as a project developer and general contractor of photovoltaic solar systems, Jinergy is also among the best in the world when it comes to product development, product quality and production efficiency. In order to guarantee top international quality and Tier 1 product properties for the production facility in Algeria as well, Jinergy will work with local Algerian partners from construction planning and construction to commissioning and operational production management. The plan is to produce 14 different PV solar products with a total annual output of 555 MWp, including the innovative poly and mono-perc modules and the super high-performance modules of the HJT class.
The local production of solar panels is the heart of the integrated industrialization program of the Terra Sola consortium for Algeria.
The USD 5 billion integrated solar program of the Terra Sola Consortium, which was specially tailored to the needs of Algeria in cooperation with local ministries, creates the basis in Algeria to be the first African country to successfully initiate the energy transition. In addition, future-oriented jobs will be created through the program and industry-related training and further education will be offered, which will sustainably combat unemployment in the country.
The local industrialization program includes the settlement of numerous international factories that, in partnership with local companies, produce other key components of the solar industry in the industrial park made available by the Algerian state. The largest and most important of these factories is the state-of-the-art Jinergy solar cell and module production that Jinergy is building together with Terra Sola Algerié and in which Jinergy products are produced according to international, Tier 1 quality criteria for the local market and for export . In addition to the transfer of production know-how, Jinergy will also qualify and continuously train key Algerian personnel in order to ensure that product research and development in Algeria is always up-to-date and innovative. In the Sidi Bel Abbès industrial park, the factory for solar modules will also have its own research and test institute in order to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of the solar modules and to integrate the latest technical findings. This will permanently secure Algeria’s position as Africa’s leading solar center.
