The Clean Energy Council recognises the importance of the passing of the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Bill through New South Wales Parliament. The policy leadership shown by the Minister for Energy and Environment, Matt Kean, and the NSW Government on this issue should be celebrated; this is a victory for the clean energy transition.
In legislating the framework to deliver renewable energy zones, it will facilitate private investment in 12 GW of new cheap, clean, renewable energy generation assets and 2 GW of energy storage by 2030.
This is a bill that has the interests of the community at heart, providing thousands of regional jobs, boosting local manufacturing opportunities, strengthening the social fabric of these local, regional centres.
The Clean Energy Council and its members look forward to working with the NSW Government on the critical detail that will shape the bill’s implementation.
