Tata Power-DDL signs MoU with Genus Power to Provide Education & Training on AMI Deployment


Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. (Tata Power-DDL), a pioneering power utility supplying electricity to a populace of over 7 million in North Delhi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd. (Genus Power) to provide education and training on Smart Meters/ AMI Deployment and its related aspects.


This collaboration will facilitate development and customized delivery of impactful technical training programs coupled with a practical approach towards maintenance of smart electrical network.


As a part of the MoU, Genus Power and Tata Power-DDL will conduct capacity building training programs dedicated towards encouraging best practices in the area of Smart Meter Deployments for the betterment of DISCOMS. This is expected to yield an array of skilled “smart” utility workforce in India and globally through the joint efforts of both the parties. Genus Power will act as the technical guidance partner for TATA Power DDL.


Commenting on the association, Mr. Subir Verma, Chief-HR, IR & EHS, Tata Power-DDL said “Tata Power-DDL has been a front runner in the implementation of Smart Grid Technologies and also the roll-out of smart metering in its distribution area. Through this collaboration for imparting training pertaining to smart metering, we are sure that all other utilities will benefit immensely from the experience and learnings of our smart metering journey. AMI programme is one of Tata Power-DDL’s key strategic initiatives for the modernisation of the grid and we are delighted to associate with Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd in providing effective capacity building training programs dedicated towards encouraging best practices in the area of Smart Meter Deployments.”

Sharing his views on the association, Mr. Jitendra K Agarwal, Jt. Managing Director, Genus Power said, “With smart meter deployments advancing in India, there has been an immense need for technical training for upgradation of technical know-how of utility professionals on varies aspects of AMI planning and Deployment. Our association with Tata Power-DDL will ensure implementing the right technical modules for large scale training sessions on Smart Meters and AMI Deployment, which will further strengthen India’s Smart Metering Mission.”
