Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has invited bids from solar panel specialists for developing a solar farm project of more than 5 MW capacity in Bahrain.
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) is the world’s largest aluminium smelter ex-China.
The work comprises surveying, designing, engineering, supplying of solar panels, civil and structural work, testing and commissioning and also tying the grids.
Minimum 350 W photovoltaic panels are required for covering a surface area of around 37,000 sq m spread over operations areas, car parks and the Alba Club.
The project supports the social, governance and environmental policies of the company and will assist in shifting towards renewable energy for the company.
Alba issued a Public Tender for its Solar Farm with a view to diversify its energy sources and adopt clean energy in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and its Green/Renewable Energy Targets led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Alba also recently signed an MoU with Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA) to seek opportunities that will help it leverage SEA’s expertise to find sustainable energy solutions.
