China-based global solar module manufacturer, JinkoSolar officially launched its energy storage systems (ESS) product offering in Gaborone, Botswana.
The event was hosted in collaboration with Apex Solar, a solar solution provider based in Botswana and an official distributor of JinkoSolar in the country. Local customers, government representatives, and media attended the event that emphasized energy storage systems solutions and solar photovoltaic panels.
JinkoSolar noted this event as a great opportunity for them to provide clean energy solutions in the African market, as Africa’s electricity demand is expected to double by 2030.
The solar PV industry in sub-Saharan Africa currently includes large-scale ground-mounted solar farms, commercial and industrial installations, mini-grids, and solar home systems. Now, the emergence of ESS in the market will accelerate the developments in the renewable energy sector.
Energy storage solutions for solar panels combined with battery storage specifically aim at the commercial and industrial market. It plays a critical and growing role in clean energy transformation. The ESS has become an essential environmental technology to increase solar photovoltaic penetration in terms of reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
