The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued new notification extending the self certification of solar PV inverters under Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) from 31st December 2021 to 30th June 2022. It is subject to the condition that manufacturers have a valid International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Certificate and a test report from a international test lab.
In 2017, for the first time MNRE had issued the compulsory registration order but it was extended many time due to operational challenges. In it’s last notification the deadline was extended to 31st December 2021.
However, Due to COVID 19 lockdown disruption, high testing fee and limited lab facilities for testing up to 150 kW interters, the industry was demanding more time for compliance.
