The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) to commission solar PV power projects at Tirumala and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and purchase solar energy generated from these projects.
These projects will come up at Tirumala and Tirupati and the temple administration will purchase solar energy generated from these projects.
The price of the power generated will be determined by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), though it is likely to be well below Rs 3 per unit.
The capital cost for the project will be borne by NVVN, the TTD will provide land for 25 years.
After several meetings and discussions with the TTD authorities, NVVN had done a series of inspections and agreed to TTD’s proposals.
