Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog, said Tuesday that India could be the cheapest country to produce Green Hydrogen due to its favorable climatic conditions.
Kant, in an interactive session at Raisina Dialogue pointed out that India has reduced the cost of renewable energies.
“India is large and has scale. India can produce Green Hydrogen at a very affordable price… India is the only country with the right climate to do so,” he stated.
Kant acknowledged that China doesn’t have the climate conditions necessary to be the most affordable producer of Green Hydrogen. However, he said India will need to compete with Middle-East nations.
He noted that India is a major consumer of Green Hydrogen and said that India would be the capital for Green Hydrogen production.
Kant says that batteries are not the solution for the long-term.
He noted that “the world cannot depend on nickel, cobalt, and lithium… all resources in the world are managed by one country.”
He observed that they would create their own complexity to make the world cleaner for the future.
