The Ministry of Education implements a solar energy project in the Al Buraimi Governorate’s Sultanate’s schools for girls. Around 246 photovoltaic (PV) panels have been installed and will generate 106 kilowatts capacity of energy.
The Engineer of this project was Asim bin Abdullah Al-Alawi from the Projects Department of the Ministry of Education.
He added, “As for the Sultan Qaboos School for Boys, the number of photovoltaic panels reached 300, with a total capacity of 120 kilowatts, with a surplus of 239.16 megawatts since the actual operation of the project in the 2017.”
Solar projects in schools contribute in reduces electricity bills by 40% and also aware students of the relevance of renewable energy. The projects will provide job opportunities also.
Engineer Asim bin Abdullah Al-Alawi from the Projects Department of the Ministry of Education said, “The photovoltaic panels were installed in various forms to exploit the shaded spaces for parking lots, shade sports fields in schools, and create shades for students to rest, equipped with highly efficient energy-generation systems and the ability to clean the panels themselves.”
