Solarcity Malaysia Begins Operation Of 7.0 MWp Solar Photovoltaic System
A 70% owned subsidiary of G Capital Bhd (GCAP), Solarcity Malaysia Sdn Bhd, completed and began the operation of a 7.0 MWp solar photovoltaic power generation system for Evergreen Fibreboard Bhd in Batu Pahat (Johor). This was after the signing of a power purchase arrangement on 17th June 2021. This increases the total solar power in GCAP to 15.3 MWp. It would also generate a yearly revenue potential for the 25-year PPA of RM 4 million. Datuk Yap Yee Ping, Executive Director of GCAP, stated that the company began seedlings for solar PV projects in 2021. The company is making progress in this venture.
BAT Malaysia Installs Solar Power System At Johor Bahru Factory
British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad has achieved carbon neutrality for its Johor Bahru factory, further reaffirming the group’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The certification received by the Group is in accordance with PAS 2060, the internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality for the period 1 December 2020 to 30 November 2021. This milestone was announced, during the launch of the factory’s solar power system, which was inaugurated by Yang Berusaha Tuan Sazali Bin Mohamad, Pengarah Kastam Negeri Johor. The solar power system, which was fully installed in May 2022 will generate some 103Mwh (megawatt-hour) energy annually, powering approximately 60% of the factory throughout the year. In total, the solar power system will generate savings of close to RM1 million over 20 years.

Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), the renewable energy subsidiary of natural resources development company Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC), signed an agreement with Shell Overseas Investments B.V. (Shell) to jointly develop, own, operate, and maintain onshore renewable energy projects in the Philippines. The EPI-Shell venture is targeting 1 gigawatt (GW) by 2028 with ambitions to contribute up to 3 GW into the country’s renewable capacity by initially rolling out a series of projects in Luzon and Visayas. The focus will be on utility-scale solar PV while evaluating opportunities in onshore wind and energy storage systems. Karnataka Govt Signs MoU with Petronas Hydrogen, Continental Automotive for Investment of Rs.32,000 Cr
In the presence of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bammai, the Karnataka government signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoUs), with Petronas Hydrogen Malaysia and Continental Automotive Components (India) for an investment totalling Rs 32,000 crores. Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Industries Dr EV Ramana Reddy and Petronas Hydrogen CEO Adlan Ahmaad signed the MoUs. Continental Automotive CEO Prashant Dureswamy was also present at the signing. Chief Minister, assured the two companies that they would receive all assistance and urged them to complete the projects within the stipulated time. Petronas has pledged to invest Rs31,200 crores to set up a renewable energy plant in Mangaluru. It would provide employment opportunities for 3000 people.
