EWEC, Abu Dhabi’s main off-taker of water and electricity projects, announced the news via its official Twitter handle. The deadline for RFP submission and the number of responses to the Expression of Interest invitation (EOI) were not disclosed.

In May 2022, Abu Dhabi issued the EOI for this project. It is slated to be Abu Dhabi’s third solar PV IPP, after Al Dhafra and Noor Abu Dhabi.

According to EWEC’s May 2022 statement, the project includes the development, financing, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of the solar PV project and associated infrastructure.

According to the statement, the long-term Power Purchase Agreement will be structured as an Energy Purchase Agreement. EWEC will only pay for the net electricity supplied by the plant.
