The DEWA, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launch a tender to construct a 900 MW solar plant about 50 km south of Dubai.

This solar park is the 6th Phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. When completed in 2030, the huge project will have 5 GW of solar and concentrating solar power.

According to the utility, the chosen developer will construct and operate the plant as an independent power project. Deadline to submit proposals for projects is October 10.

DEWA reports that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park currently has 1,627 MW of operating generation capacity. This includes the 13 MW initial phase, the second stage of 200 MW and the third phase of 800 MW. There are also sections of the fourth- and fifth phases, which are in development.

DEWA stated that an additional 1,233 MW of power generation capacity is in the works, and 700 MW of CSP. This would mean that 2,140 MW more generation capacity will be available by 2030. Phase six will include 900 MW.
