National Agency for Energy Conservation Signs MoU With Regional Center for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) led by Executive Director Dr Jauad El Kharraz, was honoured to receive a high-level delegation from Tunisia, headed by Engineer Fethi Hanchi / Director General of the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME), accompanied by a group of Tunisian experts in the field. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening Egyptian-Tunisian cooperation in the field of energy efficiency, as it falls within the activities of the project “Using Solar Thermal Energy in the Industrial Field – SHIP” funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and whose implementation is supervised by the United Nations Industrial Development Program (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Egyptian trade and industry.

The meeting concluded with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RCREEE and ANME to join their efforts in developing Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Efficiency (EE) programs in Tunisia, and it covers various cooperation areas including investment in green finance, policy and access to finance mechanisms, decarbonization of the industrial sector, promoting solar heaters capacity building and knowledge exchange missions, RE&EE technological innovations, as well as promoting public and private partnerships.

RCREEE and ANME also aim to identify synergies, exchange know-how and promote RE&EE development on national and regional levels with the aim of replicating success stories.

In addition, collaboration on COP 27 was discussed. Both parties agreed to organize joint events to cover small-scale renewable energy applications, green finance and Energy Efficiency in buildings and appliances.
