Assam Govt To Set Up 1000 MW Solar Power Plant in Dima Hasao District

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam’s Chief Minister, stated that a 1,000 MW solar energy project will be built in Dima Hasao district. The Skill Development Centre will provide the skilled staff needed to work on such a large-scale project.


On Wednesday, Sarma officially inaugurated the Integrated Skill Development Centre in Ardha space, Diyungbra’s Dima Hasao area. The construction of the ability centre at a cost of Rs 36.60 crore was done under a specific monetary package that was agreed to by the Government of India, Government of Assam, and each faction of the former militant group Dima Halim Daogah, (DHD).

Sarma said that Dima Hasao will have a 1,000 MW solar power plant. The Skill Development Centre will provide the skilled staff needed to work on such a large project. The federal government was serious about making Dima Hasao a vital area for progress on all levels, he assured residents.

Earlier Sarma had said that Assam is looking to augment its solar power generation capacity by 2,000 MW at an investment of around Rs 10,000 crore within the next three-four years. Also last month the state-run Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) had joined hands with NLC India to produce 1,000 MW solar power at an investment of Rs 5,500 crore.
