The Project features 44,350 bifacial photovoltaic panels that span an area of 47 hectares in Aomori City in Aomori Prefecture, capable of supplying up to 5,680 local households with clean energy yearly. Compared to thermal energy generation, the Aomori 2 Solar Project can reduce up to 15,211 tonnes of greenhouse emissions and save approximately 21 million liters of water annually.

At the peak of its construction, approximately 250 workers were hired by Vena Energy Engineering K.K, the licensed Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company of Vena Energy in Japan.

“With the commissioning of the Aomori 2 Solar Project, we now have 31 renewable energy projects totaling 668 MW in Japan, and we are grateful to our host communities in the Aomori Prefecture for their continued support,” said Juan Mas Valor, Head of Vena Energy Japan. “As the owner and EPC contractor of this Project, we are pleased to announce its successful construction and commissioning, contributing to Aomori’s local economy and to the country’s energy independence and decarbonization efforts. We will continue to work closely with our host communities and all our other stakeholders to accelerate the energy transition in Japan.”
