SirajPower Installs Rooftop Solar For Dubai Autodrome

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Dubai Autodrome, as part of its sustainability commitments, is reaping the rewards of its solar panel-lined roofs. The generated energy will be used to power its racing competitions and daily operations throughout the year.

Dubai Autodrome hosts regular international, regional as well as local motorsport events. The venue made the decision to invest its energy needs in a 2.8MWp solar photovoltaic power plant, which has been running since September 2022.

Additionally, the project includes more than 60 solar panel roof carports that provide shaded parking and EV charging station, while generating solar power.

SirajPower has installed state-of-the-art equipment. This will have a positive effect on the environment as well as the venue. The solar panels generate 4,751,470.4 Kilowatt Hours of power annually, and some of this is put back into the grid. Meanwhile, 2,055 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year will be eliminated.

These numbers will equal almost 250,031,475 fully-charged smartphones and 443 gasoline-powered passenger cars driven for a year. This highlights the importance of solar panels in mitigating climate change.

The track is used extensively for motorsport activities, including testing and development by car makers ahead of their new season. This eco-friendly project generates power for the entire venue and helps reduce its energy costs.

Faisal Al Sahlawi, General Manager of Dubai Autodrome, said, “With environmental considerations becoming more important than ever before, we wanted to do our part in helping create a sustainable planet which was why we did not hesitate in taking the decision to invest in state-of-the-art solar panels at Dubai Autodrome. The installation of the system came at a crucial time when the Government is stepping up its efforts to promote sustainability across Dubai and thanks to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy are two key initiatives that the project is contributing towards.”

He added, “The energy generated by the panels is now central in our day-to-day operations on as well as off the track, either powering floodlights at the circuit or using a plug socket to power our venue or your home. This project, along with the other initiatives that were put in place, reaffirms the commitment to caring for the environment and ensuring sustainability in future generations while positioning Dubai Autodrome in an eco-friendly motorsport venue and entertainment venue for everyone to enjoy.”
