Greatech Technology Berhad, through its subsidiary Greatech Integration (M) Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysia-based leading automation solutions provider, organised a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new facility in Penang, Malaysia. The new additional facility, BK IV, with a built-up area of 500,000 square feet, will be constructed across 11.58-acre land in Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Penang. The facility will manufacture solar products.
Upon completion of BK IV, Greatech will have a total combined floor area of more than 1.2 million square feet. Greatech will be investing approximately RM1.3 billion for this expansion with an estimated capital expenditure of RM200 million and an estimated operating expenditure of RM1.1 billion. The Group strongly believes that this investment will open new horizons in meeting Greatech ever-growing demands.
Ms. Ooi Hooi Kiang, the Board Chair of Greatech said, “Greatech has grown rapidly in the last 5 years, broadening our customers base across the world. Furthermore, our headcount significantly increased from 350 in 2018 to 1,300 to date. This has contributed to the creation of high-impact job opportunities with 50 percent of the total staff being design engineers and 98 percent of them being local hires.”
