Egypt’s Sovereign Fund Chairperson Meets With Copenhagen Infrastructure Co-Founder; To Boost Green Energy Investment

Hala el Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development as well as Chairperson of Egypt’s Sovereign Fund met with Philip Christiani, the co-founder of Copenhagen Infrastructure.

The meeting discussed ways to increase mutual investment in green energy and renewable energy projects in Egypt.

The minister stated that Egypt gives renewable energy projects a high priority and intends to transform its economy to be more environmentally friendly.

She stated that the investment strategy for the 2022-23 fiscal year aims to make 40% of Egyptian projects green, with the aim of increasing this percentage by 50% by 2024-25.

Hala el Saeed stated that the Sovereign Fund of Egypt is the Egyptian government’s investment arm and supports the country’s efforts toward green development.

She said that the fund had launched ammonia and green hydrogen production initiatives as well as water desalination project partnerships with international companies.

Minister said that the Suez Canal Economic Zone offers promising investment opportunities.
