Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, EGAT Governor, said that to support Thailand’s commitment in the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero Emissions by 2065, EGAT has implemented the Triple S strategy comprising Sources Transformation: increase renewable energy share in the generation mix and develop new technologies to support renewable electricity generation, Sink Co-creation: increase sources for carbon sequestration through One-Million-Rai Reforestation Project and the study of CCUS, and Support Measures Mechanism: enhance public participation in greenhouse gas reduction through Energy-Saving Label No.5 Project and Green Classroom Project as well as promote EV deployment. This cooperation aims to study clean energy technologies covering CCUS and the use of hydrogen and ammonia as alternative fuels for electricity generation. These technologies will help reduce CO2 emissions in the context of Thailand which still depends on fossil fuels for electricity generation to maintain energy security and meet the national power demand. The success gained from the MOU will be expanded to EGAT’s power plants and future projects for the benefit of the country and the solutions for the environmental problems of the country and the world.
