The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has announced the appointment of Rohini Rawat and Ram Nihal as part-time non-official directors, serving as independent directors on the board of IREDA from March 9, 2023.
Rohini Rawat, who holds an MA in Economics from Rohilkhand University in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, is a social worker and former chairperson of the Municipal Council Joshimath from 2013 to 2018. Rawat has received various accolades for her contribution towards solid waste management and has served as a member of the Uttarakhand State Women Commission from 2004 to 2007.
Meanwhile, Ram Nihal, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in law and commerce, is also a lawyer and member of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, as well as an organizer of yoga camps, raising awareness about health issues.
The appointment of Rohini Rawat ensures that the corporate governance compliance requirement of having one female director on the board has been met.
